Главной целью проводимой работы являются мероприятия по безопасности нахождения людей на водных объектах, особенно с детьми, а также проверка документов судовладельцев, своевременное выявление и пресечение нарушений, связанных с отсутствием регистрационных документов, прав на судовождение и спасательных жилетов.

При выездах по акватории реки, прилегающей к столице, проводятся профилактические беседы с отдыхающими, раздаются памятки о правилах безопасного поведения на воде. Старший инспектор ПДН Северо-Восточного ЛУ МВД России на транспорте капитан полиции Любовь Бубенчикова отмечает: «Река не прощает халатности или легкомыслия. Важно, чтобы наши сограждане понимали, что вся наша превентивная работа направлена для их блага и безопасности. Совместные рейды транспортной полиции и ГИМСа вполне логичны, проводятся вот уже на протяжении не одного десятилетия», сообщает пресс-служба МЧС России и МВД Якутии.
